Pocari Sweat and Subic Marathon… Living the Dream

January 20, Sunday before the break of dawn, more than 6500 runners gathered to participate in the first ever International Subic Marathon. Runners from the US and Kenya joined the Philippines’ best runners to take part in experiencing one of the best courses ever to be staged in the Philippines because of its scenic topography.

As a major sponsor, Pocari Sweat was dubbed as the Official Health Drink of the entire event. All the runners quenched their thirst and were re-energized by Pocari Sweat during the 42-kilometer run.

The organizers’ theme “Living the Dream” was very much in tune with Pocari Sweat’s dream of becoming the best choice health drink among the growing health conscious Filipinos.

For the major race 42-K, a Kenyan runner was awarded First Place bagging $5000 and a trophy by OPPI’s President and General Manager, Mr. Leopoldo Dimerin along with Pocari Sweat’s PM Mr. Apollo Casuga and NSM Mr. Brad Santiago. Two Filipino bets Eduardo Buenavista got 2nd place while Cresenciano Sabal landed in 7th place with corresponding cash prizes and trophies.


The event culminated with entertainment from dancers and bands playing music for the spectators.
